The Ronald McDonald House Charities have been around since 1974. However, despite common assumptions, the Ronald McDonald Charity was not founded by the McDonald’s fast-food corporation. It was actually created by a football player and he decided to use Ronald McDonald as the mascot because he was recognizable and loved by children.
The charity today aids families with ill children. Though they cannot promise to heal the child, they do all they can in efforts to make their journey to recovery a better and happier one. The Ronald McDonald Charities provide financial assistance to families, especially families that need to travel miles upon miles to have their child receive the best care. Today, across America there are 300 plus Ronald McDonald houses that serve as a temporary home for these families. Along with financial support, the charity will also provide services that cater to the family’s and child’s emotional needs. Ronald McDonald Charity’s mission is to provide families with ill children and safe and strong foundation to help ease the frustration and emotional stress along the road to recovery.
Three things that I want to take away from the presentation is that this is non-profit organization; therefore, all what they have is because of generous donations from the community. Remembering this, I want to be able to help as much as I can to give back because Ronald McDonald Charity once helped my family. Another thing I would like to remember is the families. Anyone can be put in these type of situations. The last thing I want to remember are the children. Although they are battling many different diseases, some even terminal, they still smile and radiate happiness. If they can smile and laugh through it all, I should too and I should be kind and generous to others because you never know what they could be battling.
